Derek Lewis
President and Chief Executive Officer
Derek Lewis serves as President and Chief Executive Officer for Checkpoint Surgical. Joining Checkpoint in 2018 as Vice President of Operations and R&D, he built a strong Product Delivery team tasked with expanding the company’s product portfolio. Under his leadership, the team has released several new nerve care devices to the market with a robust product pipeline on the way.
Laura Keck
Chief Financial Officer
Laura Keck serves as Chief Financial Officer for Checkpoint Surgical. Laura has spent her career advising and holding leadership positions in high-growth companies, ranging from early stage to middle market. Beginning her career with an international public accounting firm, she has also worked for a health care consulting firm as an advisor to hospitals and medical group practices.
Kevin Scanlan
Senior Vice President of Clinical Services
Kevin Scanlan serves as Senior Vice President of Clinical Services for Checkpoint Surgical. Kevin was part of the initial development and launch team for Checkpoint Surgical in 2009. He served as Director of Clinical Training and Education from 2009 through 2014, and then served as Vice President of Clinical Services until March of 2022.
Elliott Phillips
Vice President of Sales
Elliott Phillips serves as the Vice President of Sales for Checkpoint Surgical. He is an accomplished head of sales and medical device industry expert with over two decades of repeated successes. With personal and hands-on involvement in over 25 new product development and commercial launches, Elliott has launched FDA 510(k), Denovo, Combination, Class I, II, & III Medical Devices, as well as 361 HCT/P, BLA, and Regenerative Medicine Products.
Kristin Wolff
Vice President of Marketing
Kristin Wolff serves as Vice President of Marketing for Checkpoint Surgical. Before joining Checkpoint Surgical in 2022, Kristin held leadership roles for product management, marketing, and communications with high-growth, venture-backed medical device and advanced biologics companies.
Don Hubbard
Senior Vice President of Development
Don Hubbard joined Checkpoint in 2010, serving first on the Board of Directors and then joining the executive management team in June of 2012 as Vice President of Sales & Marketing, a position he held until October 2017. Don is now Senior Vice President of Development, a position in which he oversees the company's international sales distribution and investigates the feasibility of Checkpoint use in alternative fields of medicine.
Ben Cottrill
Vice President of Engineering
Ben Cottrill serves as Vice President of Engineering for Checkpoint Surgical. He previously held several product development roles at Checkpoint Surgical, including most recently, Director of Product Development. Prior to joining Checkpoint Surgical in 2019, Ben served in product development and quality leadership roles in the medical device industry. In each of these roles, Ben helped guide medical devices of all classes through the entire development cycle, from concept through development, to regulatory approval for both CE Mark and FDA clearance, to manufacturing and commercialization.
