Ben Cottrill
Ben Cottrill serves as Vice President of Engineering for Checkpoint Surgical. He previously held several product development roles at Checkpoint Surgical, including most recently, Director of Product Development. Prior to joining Checkpoint Surgical in 2019, Ben served in product development and quality leadership roles in the medical device industry. In each of these roles, Ben helped guide medical devices of all classes through the entire development cycle, from concept through development, to regulatory approval for both CE Mark and FDA clearance, to manufacturing and commercialization.
At Medtronic CardioInsight, he led a team of quality engineers for post-market and new product development after having acted as the principal system engineer for the release of the CIT200 cardiac mapping system. Previously, Ben served in project management and system engineering roles at QIG Group (now Integer Medical), shaping and stewarding a novel 24-channel, fully implantable neurostimulation system from initial concept sketches through its first implant.
Ben earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Case School of Engineering and an MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. He holds several issued patents and applications covering neurostimulation and image processing inventions.
