LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, November 14, 2025—Checkpoint Surgical, a leader in nerve stimulation and intraoperative nerve health technologies, recently hosted the Surgery of the Spastic Upper Limb Cadaveric Course in Las Vegas on October 24–25, welcoming leading plastic and orthopedic surgeons from across the country. The course provided an immersive, hands-on learning experience focused on advanced surgical approaches for managing upper extremity spasticity.
Led by esteemed faculty, Peter C. Rhee, D.O., M.S.; Kyle J. Chepla, MD; and Kitty Y. Wu, MD, the course highlighted integrating nerve-based procedures, such as selective and hyperselective neurectomy, into comprehensive treatment algorithms for patients with spasticity affecting the elbow, wrist, and fingers.
“The small-group, cadaver-based course on surgery of the spastic upper limb demonstrated marked educational value and overall success”, said Dr. Peter Rhee, course director and hand surgeon who specializes in upper extremity reconstruction and microsurgery. “The favorable participant-to-faculty ratio facilitated meaningful interaction, individualized feedback, and a high level of engagement throughout the course.”
The course curriculum included lectures, interactive case discussions, and cadaveric labs designed to reinforce knowledge of musculoskeletal and peripheral nerve interventions. Participants engaged in peer-to-peer learning and anatomical review while working directly with expert faculty. “This course reflects our commitment to advancing education in functional nerve surgery and improving outcomes for patients with spasticity,” said Kevin Scanlan, Senior Vice President of Clinical Services at Checkpoint Surgical. “We look forward to offering additional hands-on training opportunities in 2026.”
